In reference to the Office for Transport Security (OTS), these were the impassioned words Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade conveyed on the occasion of its 17th Founding Anniversary today, 02 February 2021.
Represented by Undersecretary for Legal Affairs Reinier Paul Yebra, Secretary Tugade lauded the continuing efforts of the agency to boost the enhancement of security measures implemented across the country amid COVID-19 pandemic.
“Thus, navigating the so-called ‘new normal’ requires efficient synergy between technologies and human resources. That's why we need you - the men and women of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) in this endeavor." Usec. Yebra remarked.
"We need your continuous commitment to be at the forefront of ensuring security in the country’s transportation systems. We need your continuous dedication to upholding the welfare of the people. And we need you to keep soldiering on with our goal to help our beloved nation recover., ” Usec. Yebra said.
"Ipagpatuloy pa ninyo ang inyong dedikasyon sa trabaho at malasakit sa kapwa dahil ito po ang tunay na salamin ng isang paggiging lingkod bayan. With the guidance of OTS Administrator Undersecretary Raul Del Rosario, we are confident that your agency will continue to reach even greater heights for the years to come, " he added.
For his part, OTS Administrator Usec. Raul Del Rosario shared the accomplishments of the OTS against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic, and expressed gratitude for the guidance and assistance of Secretary Tugade.
“Naantala ng COVID ang ating mga programa, naantala ang ating mga plano, nabago ang ating pang araw-araw na trabaho. Pero ganun pa man, nakita ko naman sa aking mga mata na ang OTS ay lumaban at hindi nagpatalo sa COVID-19,” Usec. Del Rosario said.
"Personally, nagpapasalamat ako kay Secretary Tugade sa pagtitiwala, sa continuous guidance, sa strong, persistent leadership, sa pagiging mabuting halimbawa ng kasipagan, pagiging maagap at katapangan. Sir, you made us proud to be under the DOTr," he appreciatively added.
Under the theme "Committed to a Secured Transportation System in the Normal," the occasion highlighted the agency's various activities and initiatives, as well as plans and programs, and gave special recognition to exemplary personnel of the OTS.
Welcoming the guests and officials in the virtual Ceremony was OTS OIC Deputy Administrator Director Jose Briones, who addressed the OTS employees, and commended them for accomplishing the tasks, despite the almost insurmountable challenges encountered by the agency in the past year.
"Anniversaries help us to reflect on the lessons that we have learned in the past which has been made to better today and this is to what will help us to attain the goals and objectives and aspire to achieve in our endeavors to improve the security condition in the transportation sector. In short, it’s not about being the best, rather it is about being better than we were yesterday," Director Briones gratefuly conveyed.
DOTr officials who graced the event include MIAA General Manager Eddie Monreal, MIAA Assistant General Manager for Security and Emergency Services BGEN Romeo Labrador, PNR Acting Assistant General Manager Atty. Celeste Lauta, LTFRB Board Member PCol. Joel Pernito, CAAP Acting Chief for Security and Intelligence Service Col. Gil Maglaque, and other officials and employees of the OTS.
